Project
TALOS
TALOS develops and demonstrates world-class robotics solutions for three types of solar farms: traditional (ground-based), floating and AgriPV (AgriPhotovoltaic) solar farms. This leads to innovations in both the energy- and agricultural sectors.
TALOS demonstrates the added value of robotics and their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (>450ton/year), minimize resource waste (up to 35% water savings), reduce operation and maintenance costs (up to 5%) and optimize human-robot collaboration to reduce human exposure to risky environments. Risky tasks are carried out autonomously by TALOS solutions (including monitoring, inspection, cleaning, vegetation management). This will increase the yields of the PV (solar) installations by up to 10% and reduce the risk exposure of and crop inspection by employees by 90%, making 24/7 inspection of installations/crops within reach. A multi-robot platform and recommendation system will demonstrate more than 30 robot-robot interactions, more than 30 inspections, and human-in-the-loop features and training sessions for end users and workers in consultation with stakeholders. 9-13 robotics startups will receive cascade funding for demonstrations/validations at the test sites.
