Small Innovative Projects
Small innovation projects (SIPs) are projects in which new innovative ideas that do not fit within ongoing research are tested. Thereare by definition short projects (< 1 year).
There are 2 types of SIPs:
- WR-SIP (Wageningen Research-SIP);
- dedicated SIP (cooperation between WR-units)
For 2024, 6 WR-SIPs have been initiated along with 1 dedicated SIP. The focus of the SIPs in 2024 is on generative AI.
The following SIPs are being executed:
WR-SIPs
- Wageningen Economic Research WEcR):Generative Artificial Intelligence in the Social Economic domain
- Wageningen Environmental Research (WEnR:Gen AI-Supported Chatbots for the Digital Agri Hub as a public good
- Wageningen Food & Biobasef Research (WFBR): Generative modelling to predict microbial behavior
- Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR):MS2table: Generative AI for extracting tandem mass spectra from literature findings
- Wageningen Live stock Research (WLR):Unlocking the Potential of Generative AI for Animal Health: Overcoming Data Challenges in Livestock by Synthetic Data Generation
- Wageningen Plant Research (WPR):Enhancing Large Language Models with Domain-Specific Knowledge via Crop Growth Models
Dedicated SIPs
WR units: WFSR, WPR, WEnR: Remedying Representativity Gaps and Improving AI model generalizability using Generative AI
