Project
Scorpion
The aim of the EU project Scorpion is crop protection that works safely, environmentally friendly and autonomously with precision through the use of a modular unmanned platform. The focus is on vineyards (Spain in Italy) and orchards (France, Germany and the Netherlands).
Within the Scorpion project, work is being done on embedding EGNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) navigation satellite services. This makes it possible to use autonomous ultraviolet light as a treatment as well as high-precision crop protection where it is needed in the orchard. The aim is to adopt ecological control and low-risk products using precision agriculture technology, while reducing labor costs through autonomy. The agricultural environment provides challenging conditions under which the robots have to work, impassable terrain, little room to maneuver and difficult communication conditions due to remote terrain.
Intended result: Autonomous precision crop protection with adoption of ecological control for use in orchards and viticulture.
