Digi4Life is a 'coordination and support action' project. The aim of Digi4Life is to strengthen the livestock sector in Europe by extracting added value from the use of digital technology and connecting and analysing (routinely collected) data streams, with a focus on improving the sustainability of the European livestock sector through better data collection, integration and exploitation of this data. At the core of Digi4Life are 6 case studies that work with sector parties or governments to work on a concrete case to improve data exploitation in the livestock sector.

WR is involved in the animal welfare case study, which aims to improve routinely collected data streams in pig and broiler farming to connect and show the potential for benchmarking, monitoring and risk analysis regarding animal welfare in the chain. The case study will be developed and set up in year 1 of the project. The plan is to work in these cases with integrations, retail and welfare labelling organisations to work on this. Other case studies include traceability, sustainability, standardisation of  welfare measurements using sensor technology. Communication of results and demonstrations of concepts are an important part of the project. Digi4Life focuses not only on the the primary sector, but also on policy and science.
