Carmen Hazeu: "My days in the lab stand out as the highlight of my thesis journey"
Throughout my bachelor's and master's studies, my fascination with the chemical aspects of soil and water quality intensified. This interest led me to the SOC department for my thesis. My research delved into the influence of pH and lime on the dissolved phosphorus concentration in agricultural soils by doing two lab experiments.
The initial phase of my thesis, especially the lab work, was a bit daunting given my limited lab experience. However, the supportive atmosphere, coupled with the willingness of everyone to help, eased the transition. In retrospect, my days in the lab stand out as the highlight of my thesis journey, providing not only practical hands-on experiences but also a collaborative environment.
Besides lab experiments, I also did statistical analysis to gain deeper insights. Although the statistical analysis presented its challenges, I value the experience, as it not only contributed to my results but also offered me the opportunity to deepen my understanding of statistics. But I am not going to lie, I am glad those statistics days are over.
