On the 5th of June, VoedingNL had its annual conference in De Reehorst in Ede. This year’s theme was Nutrition and the Brain.

Very interesting program and well-attended event by enthusiastic dieticians, (nutrition)scientists, psychologists, medical doctors, physiotherapists, students and other interested parties. SSEB was well represented by Gerry Jager, who kicked of the program with an well received lecture on the development of flavour- and food preferences from early childhood onwards, and how these preferences evolve across the lifespan. After the lunch break, Sanne Boesveldt gave a great talk titled “Tasting with your brain” about the role of taste and smell brain
functions in appetite regulation, food preferences and eating behaviour. Later
in the afternoon a selection of young researchers had the opportunity to
deliver a three-minute poster pitch on stage. We proudly present the winner of
the Poster Award in the Scientific Posters category, Jouke Bosma! Jouke gave a
great pitch about his master thesis work, which was supervised by Monica Mars
and Esther Kok. All in all it was a great and inspiring day and we are looking forward to VoedingNL25!
