Eco-System-City: the value of Green Infrastructure and Water in the City
van Rosmalen, Marc; Terwindt, Mark-Jan; van Gaalen, Jeroen
Summary
Green is the silent force in cities. It fulfils an important function in climate adaptation, liveability and biodiversity, especially now the climate is changing. But how do we create sufficient green space in cities so that it can perform those important functions, without needing too much water to do so? That is the question Arnhem, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Alphen have been working on with Wageningen Research and the partners of TKI Project Eco-System-City. This is part one of six films on the TKI project Eco-System-City (www.ecosysteemstad.nl), in which we show the importance of green and blue in cities in various research pilots. Production: FocusOn (www.focuson.nl). TKI Eco-System-City is made possible by the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Agriculture Water and Food of the Dutch government, Top Sector Water & Maritime, Top Sector Agri & Food and Top Sector Horticulture & Starting Materials.
