Summary

The Nature Profit Plan of LIFE IP Delta Nature and the Programmatic Approach National Water systems (PAGW) are working on a ecological vision for the dutch rivers, estuaria and lakes for 2050. In this study sixty Birds and Habitats Directive targets (VHR) in the IJsselmeer region were analysed. The assumption was that the desired habitats were really developped in 2050. Based on expert judgment the feasibility of the to achieve the selected VHR objectives was explored. Secondly, an inventory has been made of what climate change can mean for the feasibility of VHR targets in the IJsselmeer region. Finally, opportunities and bottlenecks were considered for additional natural values. Based on the conclusions, recommendations have been drawn up for the finalisation of the ecological vision for Dutch rivers, lakes and estuaria and further research.
