Bedrijfsverschillen in energieverbruik bij de paddenstoelenproductie : Verdiepingsanalyse van de Energiemonitor 2014 en 2016

Wildschut, Jeroen; van Leeuwen, Paul

Summary

Energy use of mushroom farms is monitored on a yearly basis. The eight energetically best performing farms have been interviewed regarding their energy management: Only two farms apply computerized energy-efficient settings (based on humidity deficit). The others set up their climate computer themselves based on the demand in the cell and outdoor weather conditions. Climate control is mainly realized through cell temperature, not relative humidity. Humidifying by steaming is practised only when the boiler is on, otherwise a spray beam is used, or one reduces ventilation. Cells are fully ventilated and circulated only if the temperature has to be changed rapidly, e.g. when the cell has just been filled with substrate or at the first harvest. Beyond that, fan speed is reduced to 30 – 50%. Substrate needs less cooling if one waits a day or two before bringing it into the cell. Steaming after the last harvest is not necessary. A higher production per m2 per year is realised with shorter cycles, e.g. 3 cycles in 5 weeks produces more than 2 cycles in 5 weeks.
