Perspectief van plasmatechnologie als methaan- en ammoniakemissie reducerende maatregel in de melkveehouderij

Puente-Rodríguez, Daniel; Vonk, Jan; Verdoes, Nico

Summary

Plasma technology can be applied in agriculture, mainly for the production of synthetic fertilizers, possibly using renewable energy sources. However, this research focuses on other aspects. This research addresses the challenges and opportunities of plasma technology to reduce methane and ammonia emissions from manure in livestock farming in the Netherlands. Attention is given to the chemical and biological principles and mechanisms, possible undesirable side effects (e.g., risks of NO x emissions) and the implementation perspective on dairy farms in the Netherlands – business case, energy consumption, policy and legal aspects that can hinder or facilitate implementation.
