Summary

Policymakers and market actors increasingly see the sale of agricultural products through short chains as being a way of establishing new revenue models for agricultural companies, strengthening the connection between producers and the general public, and achieving sustainability. The figures presented in this report provide an insight into the position of short chains in 2023 and how they have developed compared to 2020 (baseline). The report provides a national-level insight into the number of short chain companies and the characteristics of those companies, as well as an estimate of the turnover of agricultural companies that sell products through short chains. It also provides a general overview of short chains at the provincial level.
