Wageningen Model and Data Day 2023

Summary

During the Wageningen Model and Data Day 2023, a workshop on ‘Motivating model complexity’ was organized by work package 3 (WP3) of the MAST project. WP3 of this project focuses on model development and aims to align awareness of the interaction between model evaluation and model complexity. The goal of the workshop was to discuss fitness-for-purpose of models (Figure 1) in relation to model complexity. Rogier Pouwels (WEnR) and Thomas Hagenaars (WBVR) were invited to kick-off the discussion by presenting case studies that illustrate the interface between model complexity and fit-for-purpose.
