Summary
Due to the changed supply and demand of water as a result of climate change, the question arises how the groundwater system can be brought into balance so that further damage to groundwater-dependent nature is prevented and groundwater of good quality remains available to various users. What is lacking is an instrument that supports an integrated assessment of different needs and of the effects of measures and a changing climate. We have therefore worked on the development and application of model instruments that can be used within area processes where competition between different groundwater interests and groundwater-dependent nature plays a role. The set of instruments helps to create an economic overview (costs and benefits) of the various groundwater interests and is intended to support discussions in local stakeholder processes after further development.
