Evolution of Cannabis genetic and chemical diversity

Cannabis is an ancient yet controversial crop representing a rapidly emerging multi-billion legal industry, primarily for medicinal purposes. However, fundamental aspects about its geographic origins, domestication, and adaptation remain unknown. We leverage comparative genomic approaches at phylogenetic, population genomic, and DNA levels to address questions about Cannabis genetic diversity and the molecular evolution underlying its (biochemical) traits.
