Diet quality and sustainability of healthy diets in Vietnam

Improving food systems for healthy and sustainable diets requires monitoring the essential elements of the food systems, in which diet quality and food access are included. It is the motivation for the ongoing efforts to fill in data gaps on food access and diet quality globally.

Project aims

This project aims to fill in the metric and data gap in agriculture and food systems for improved nutrition and health in a representative low-and-middle-income country, Vietnam, by developing, evaluating, and applying a novel diet quality together with an application of a cost of healthy diet metric. We also aim to go beyond simply understanding each dimension separately and instead investigate their associations to explain better the linkages between food access and nutrition of our target food system.
