Project

Diamant van ons platteland (Diamond of our countryside)

The countryside is in transition to reshape the balance between economy, ecology and the social environment. Within the great diversity of actors and interests in the countryside, the family farm that became an agricultural enterprise, has a key position in making these changes concrete.

The farm needs perspective for a business strategy that is economically responsible and of value to the social and ecological environment. Though societal and academic focus is often on the negative effects of farming, this project investigates the current and potential positive effects, by deepening knowledge about professional identity, regional identity and communication about framing. Based on acquired knowledge, we design practice-oriented instruments to gain an overview and insight into the diversity of images about professional identity and regional identity from a wide range of stakeholders and instruments to provide ways of communicating these images.
