Capacity building for water experts' network andintegrated entrepreneurship

Iraq is considered as the fifth most vulnerable country to the impact of climate change. Therefore, Iraq is suffering from severe water scarcity and yearly reduction of its arable land. Besides to impact climate change, problems like population growth, outdated education and agriculture practices and inefficient water management are pressing factors on water and agriculture sectors in Iraq. Therefore, there is an urgent need to improve water use efficiency and promote sustainable practices in agriculture among the Iraqi experts. The building of capacities of the staff of the universities and other organisations in the topics of sustainable soil and water management, entrepreneurship can significantly be beneficial to water and agricultural sectors in the country in long-term.

By building capacities in these areas, staff of the universities can disseminate knowledge and skills to their students, other colleagues, farmers and experts from other organisations. This can lead to the adoption of more efficient water use practices in agriculture.
