Promovendus, Externe medewerkerI studied food science and engineering as an undergraduate at Dalian University of Technology, China. My graduation thesis is about the extraction and properties determination of protein from milk thistle residue. During this period, I learned a lot of experimental principles and operations, including gel electrophoresis, gas chromatography and liquid chromatography. This graduation project also made me interested in scientific research work.
I graduated with a master's degree from University College Dublin, majoring in food engineering. The paper is about the application of hyperspectroscopy in detecting the soluble solids content of blueberries. This paper uses a special lens to capture the absorbance of the sample at a specific wavelength, and calculates the soluble solid content in blueberries by establishing a model and algorithm. Furthermore, it was found in the study that surface damage can be easily detected at specific wavelengths.
My PhD project is about the upcycling of coffee grounds. During the growth process, the fungus will produce hydrolytic enzymes that hydrolyze cellulose, thereby releasing the prebiotic components in the coffee grounds.
