With research interests at the intersection of environmental change and development, particularly in the water and agricultural sectors, Tanvi is a PhD candidate in the River Commons project. Her research explores the process of knowledge production and politics of water governance in the Cauvery delta in southern India.
She has previously worked in environment-development research, practice and policy at the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, and the UN World Food Programme. As an aspiring geographer, she has experience conducting mixed methods research using qualitative and quantitative tools.
Tanvi holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford where she was a scholar with the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development. Her dissertation research analysed crop diversification practices of a Gond adivasi community in Madhya Pradesh under climate adaptation, nutrition and income motivations, and explored suitable crop diversity conservation strategies. Her undergraduate studies were in Environmental Science, Botany and Chemistry at St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore where she was a KVPY scholar.
Apart from her academic interests, Tanvi likes to explore nature and movement through climbing trees, dance and ultimate frisbee.
