Senior scientist marine ecologyRobbert Jak is a senior scientist and research manager in the field of marine ecology, with a focus on the ecological adaptability of human activities in the marine environment. He participates in various national and multinational research projects on the impacts of various human activities on aquatic ecosystems. Part of this work was the development of ecological risk assessment methodologies, such for offshore oil & gas activities, eutrophication, and aquaculture. Other projects related to marine Natura 2000 sites (setting of conservation targets, impact assessment of human activities), European Marine Policies (e.g. Spatial Management in Marine Areas, Marine Framework Directive), deep sea mining, and monitoring of zooplankton. He was involved in several EU funded research projects related to marine spatial management, especially with regard to the shallow parts of the North Sea, aquaculture, fisheries and Natura 2000 related issues. Current research focuses on multi-use, ecosystem-based management, zooplankton monitoring, and ecological risk assessment in general.
