NWP (Niels) Brevé
Externe medewerkerNiels Breve is 54 years and currently lives in the town of Wijk bij Duurstede. He has a passion for nature, strolling along the water front and angling. Presently, he is working on a PhD at WIAS, the departments of Aquaculture and Fisheries (AFI) and Marine Animal Ecology (MAE). He studies the habitat suitability of the river Rhine for a possible reintroduction of the critically endangered European sturgeon (Acipenser sturio), a fish that could grow up to a length of 4 m and weigh over 300 kilo.
Niels also has a part-time job at Sportvisserij Nederland, where he is a senior project manager. Some of his work involves restoring fish migration, tagging sharks (google Sharkatag!) and promoting lead free angling. Niels is an active member of international working groups, such as the International Commission for Restoration of the Rhine and the European Tracking Network.
