PhD CandidateFollow me:
From a young age I was fascinated by how the human body works. I started studying nutrition and health, and after my theses I was sure that I wanted to continue in research. The coming years we will look into the multidisciplinary treatment programme before and after bariatric surgery at Vitalys (part of Rijnstate Hospital).
Bariatric surgery is a life changing moment for patients. Support before and after surgery by a multidisciplinary team is regarded as best practice. Besides medical follow-up most programmes include behavioural, psychological, diet and/or physical activity based interventions. At this moment further investigation is needed to see how these programmes can be composed to optimally support health, especially on the medium and long term after surgery. We will evaluate the current programme at Vitalys and options for optimization.
