Mosisa Tujuba Wakjira is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Plant Production Systems (PPS) group. His research interests lie at the intersection of climate, water, agriculture, and the environment. Specifically, Mosisa focuses on understanding the various dimensions of climate impacts on agriculture across spatial and temporal scales and evaluating effective adaptation practices to mitigate these negative impacts. His research aims to inform planning and policy actions at national and sub-national levels, as well as decision-making at farm and landscape scales.
Mosisa is an agricultural engineer with expertise in hydrology and water resources management. He completed his PhD thesis at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, focusing on the impacts of climate on rainfed agriculture in Ethiopia. In his current research at PPS, he evaluates the potential of conservation agriculture (CA) practices for climate adaptation and resilience across different climatic regimes and agroecological settings, with a particular emphasis on how these practices influence soil properties relevant to soil water systems. Mosisa is also responsible for developing predictive methods for modelling food production and food security, within the Food Security Intelligence (FSI) program -- a collaborative initiative led by the PPS group.
