dr. MT (Melina) Czymoniewicz-Klippel

Dr. Melina T. Czymoniewicz-Klippel is a Lecturer at the Consumption and Healthy Lifestyles Group, Wageningen University. From 2002 to 2006, Melina held various research and project management positions in the global health sector, with postings in South East and South Asia. In 2010 she received her PhD degree in public health at Monash University, Australia. From 2010-2021, she held several teaching- and research-specific positions at the Pennsylvania State University in the U.S. 

With regards to educational activities, Melina is involved in various courses on lifestyles and consumption; social and economic inequalities of health and wellbeing; and, diversity, equity and inclusion. She also regularly supervises BSc and MSc theses and internships.   

Additionally, Melina currently co-supervises two PhD students in research on health promotion interventions, one of whom is conducting participatory youth research as part of the SURREAL project and the other of whom is evaluating a post-bariatric surgery support program. Overall, Melina's interdisciplinary research program has three arms. The first arm draws on critical and social constructionist theory to examine the lifestyle and health experiences of children and families as they are embedded within and shaped by broader meso and macro environments. The second arm draws on implementation science to advance health-related interventions. Finally, a third arm explores strategies for fostering inclusive teaching and student engagement.
