In my teaching and (action) research, I focus on environmental justice, social movements, grassroots initiatives and (geo)political interests. My aim is to inspire students to raise critical questions and to study the deeper, often highly politicised, dynamics that underly current land and water management issues through interactive, demand-driven and case-based education.

My own research foundations are largely based in Ecuador (with the Riverhood/River Commons projects) and the Philippines, where I studied the implications of the commodification of water and nature for local smallholder communities, applying a political ecology conceptual approach.
