María A. Naranjo (PhD) is a versatile environmental and development economist with ample experience in management and the implementation of research projects. She is passionate about working on policy-relevant issues that seek sustainable development, especially in developing countries. My research focuses on a nature-positive transformation of the food system and the role of sustainable finance and trade. She worked on understanding collective and individual farm-level decisions by implementing surveys, lab-in-the-field experiments and agent-based models. Her research topics include nature-inclusive agriculture, scaling biodiversity-positive initiatives and related issues, including voluntary environmental programs, management and funding of natural protected areas, deforestation, farmers' livelihoods, and living income.
