M (Mamadou) Bah MSc

Living in rural Gambia has reminded me the many challenges I was faced with during my childhood. Majority of individuals living in these settings are poor and depends on subsistence farming for their living. Also these communities lack standard healthcare system thus affecting the health and education of many individuals' especially young children and women. This past experience motivated me to study biomedical science to tackle the many health challenges faced by these volunerable population. I have been working for the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for 9 years where I have been involve in biomedical esearch. Also, I completed MSc in Global Health and Development at the University College London. Over the years, I have developed various biomedical and epidimological research skills with specific interest in infection mediated iron defficiency anaemia in low income countries. I am currently investigating how to reverse the rapid declined in serum iron among infants below 6 months of age in sub-saharan african countries. 

As a PhD student, I am keen to learn new data analysis skills using different statistical package including R and STATA. This I believe will help me become an independent researcher in the field of nutrition epidemiology.
