PhD candidate

Md. Latiful Haque is a PhD candidate in Environmental Policy with a specific focus on consumption sociology. His research investigates food safety concerns and coping strategies among urban poor consumers, particularly market-sourced food. He explores how slum dwellers navigate these concerns through their shopping practices, considering the influences of urban lifestyles and rural-to-urban migration. His study also critically examines Bangladeshi food safety policies and their alignment with current consumer behaviours and retailers' vending practices.

Latiful holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His passion for food policy research began as a Research Analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Before pursuing his PhD, he accumulated over nine years of experience working with national and international research organisations in Bangladesh.
