PhD researcherMy research focuses on the governance of a transition to Circular Agriculture in the North-Netherlands. More specifically, I aim to analyse which governance interventions could accelerate this transition. I start by exploring the various initiatives in the North-Netherlands that already implement circular agriculture practices. I analyse to what extent these initiatives have transformative potential and what conditions influence their capacity for transformative change. In further research steps, I aim to explore how current policies influence these circular agriculture initiatives by means of a bottom-up policy analysis. Next to that, I want to analyse the systemic barriers that inhibit transformative change towards circularity in the food system. Based on these insights, I aim to formulate suggestions for governance interventions and policy improvements.
I participate in the CAN-DO-IT project, in which we study the technical and societal conditions and implications of the transition to Circular Agriculture in the North-Netherlands.
Before joining the Public Administration and Policy for my PhD project, I studied economics at Wageningen University. I hold a BSc in Economics and Governance (2017) and an MSc in Environmental Economics (2019, cum laude).
