Insa Thiermann recently completed her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel. She previously studied Agricultural Economics and Horticulture at universities in Kiel and Osnabrück. Her dissertation has primarily focused on the structural changes in German livestock production. 

In Wageningen, she contributed to the Horizon 2020 project AgroBRIDGES, which aims to empower farmers through innovative business and marketing models based on short food supply chains. Currently, she is involved in the Horizon 2020 project NOVASOIL, which seeks to develop innovative business models to promote soil health.

Her work frequently centers on the perspectives of farmers and citizens regarding the sustainable transformation of the agricultural sector.
