I (Igor) Sirnik PhD MSc
Education/Research officerI am a researcher and lecturer dedicated to tackling climate change by advancing renewable energy and circular agriculture. My work focuses on energy transition, agrivoltaics (integration of solar power plants over agricultural land), circular agriculture, spatial planning of energy landscape and climate change impacts on agriculture.
My academic journey has taken me across leading international institutions, including Wageningen University (The Netherlands), LETG-Rennes laboratory at University Rennes 2 (France), Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), and University of Veracruz (Mexico). Working with experts in landscape architecture, environmental sciences, climatology, agronomy, and geomatics has enriched my interdisciplinary perspective.
As a lecturer, I have taught courses in spatial planning, landscape architecture, geoinformatics and climate change. Currently, at Wageningen University, my research is centered on spatial planning components of energy transition. I actively combine research with teaching and supervise both BSc and MSc students, fostering the next generation of sustainability professionals.
