Hannah Porada
I am PhD researcher based at the Center for Latin American Research and Documentation (University of Amsterdam) and also an Early Stage Researcher with the EU-funded training network NEWAVE on water governance. I am a social scientist by training and am interested in the areas of political ecology, environmental justice, and social mobilization. In my PhD project, I am applying a political ecology lens to investigate two case studies: gas extraction in Groningen, The Netherlands, and the mining of construction materials in Xela, Guatemala. I am analyzing how these extractive activities transform hydrosocial territories and how and why this is contested. I am also interested in building bridges between the two cases; be it theoretically, empirically, or politically.
