FR (Frederiek) Veenenbos MSc
PhD Researcher, LecturerI am a PhD Researcher and Junior Lecturer at the SDC group, focusing on the intersection of nature conservation, tourism and conflict in Southern Africa. Throughout my studies in International Development (BSc and MSc at Wageningen University), I’ve become intrigued by human-nature relations in a variety of contexts and how these are shaped by politics, power, conservation organizations, historical dynamics and (local) meanings and practices. My BSc thesis focused on the spectacle of inclusive female anti-poaching strategies in Zimbabwe and South Africa, whereas for my MSc thesis I researched the social dynamics and implications of the first conservation cash-transfer program in Rwanda aiming to alter the way women use and relate to their natural environment.
