Francesca Rubiconto is a researcher at the UEC group at Wageningen University and an affiliated researcher at the United Nations University - Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from UNU-MERIT and a M.Sc. (summa cum laude) in International Business and Economics from University of Pavia.

Her main area of expertise is the construction and empirical calibration of multi-regional and cross-scale models to simulate sustainability transitions. She applies this method - often in combination with interview and survey techniques - to a variety of spatial and thematic contexts such as food systems, multilevel systems, environmental innovation, and regional development.

She has an extensive teaching experience in collaborative and problem-based learning at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics, Maastricht Graduate School of Governance and UNU-MERIT.

She is coordinator of the EWUU project Circular and Inclusive Urban Food Systems (CIFS) and researcher in the HORIZON project EU4Advice (MRGlobalFood model).
