dr. F (Francesca) Leucci LLM
DocentFrancesca Leucci is a Lecturer in Environmental Law at the Law Group of Wageningen University & Research. She was previously a PhD candidate at Bologna, Rotterdam, and Hamburg Universities (European Doctorate in Law and Economics). Her doctoral dissertation is titled Law and Economics of Environmental Damage Assessment. She gained her first legal degree in Italy and her second LL.M. in Economic Analysis of EU Law at the College of Europe in Bruges.
Her fields of interest include environmental law, the economic analysis of environmental liability laws, and, more specifically, remedies for damage to the environment and biodiversity. Drawing on a variety of methodologies (law and economics, comparative and empirical), her core research theme regards stakeholders' incentives to attain a more sustainable, just, and efficient society.
Francesca has teaching experience in EU (public and private) environmental law & policy and EU (public) competition law. Alongside her research, she has professional experience as a lawyer and as a judge assistant. She is also a member of the Legal Working Group of the Society of Ecological Restoration led by An Cliquet (Ghent University) and she is affiliated with the Conservation Litigation Network. She has been a temporary expert for Eklipse, working on the impact assessment of projects on biodiversity (no net loss) through the concept of ecosystem services, and a member of the Ecosystem Services Partnership / Task Force on Guidelines and Tools for Integrated Ecosystem Services Assessment (led by Dolf de Groot and Evangelia Drakou).
