I am a marine scientist with a background in ecology, biological oceanography and biogeochemistry and have experience in working on a variety of marine ecosystems. I’ve received my Master of Science in Marine Ecology from Wageningen University and did my PhD at the Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) on investigating how cold-water corals and deep-sea sponges can thrive in a food limited environment as the deep sea. Afterwards, I worked as a post-doc at the Marine Institute of Memorial University in St. John’s, Canada, focusing on marine biological hotspots in the northeast Canadian Arctic. At Wageningen Marine Research I am currently working on intertidal mudflat restoration projects in the Westerschelde, ecosystem analysis of the Oosterschelde, and ecological functioning of natural Oyster reefs.
