EWM (Esther) Nijkamp-Schaars
TeacherMy curiosity for the world around me has driven me to obtain a bachelor in Biology at the WUR. Although I’ve always had a passion for marine biology, my master studies ultimately focused on medical biology. In addition, I specialized in education, communication and knowledge transfer within my bachelor as well as my master program. To my own surprise, science appealed much more to me from these perspectives compared to that of a researcher. My position at the Aquaculture & Fisheries group within the Wageningen University allows me to combine the best of both. As a lecturer I have the opportunity to focus on a life long love: fish ecology. All aspects fit together as I'm working on the crossing between science and education, with fish and their interactions with their environment as the main topic.
