Projects - E (David) Castañeda

Mosquitoes can work as "flying syringes" taking small blood samples of humans and animals. Xenosurveillance is the explotaition of these blood-meals in order to detect blood-borne pathogens that migh be circulating an specific community or area. My project aims to develop molecular tools based on isothermal amplifications to make xenosurveillance more cost-efficient, user friendly and filed deployable in communities that lack an adequate laboratory infrastructure to perform more costly and complex assays.
