PromovendusHi! I'm Chotiwit, and I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. My passion for chemistry and biology led me to pursue a BSc and MSc in Biotechnology, specializing in biomaterials. In March 2024, I began my PhD in Wageningen with a drive to dive deeply into the physicochemical phenomena within biomaterials.
I am part of the "Biobased solutions for the modern world (BIoSolutions Team)", aims to produce more sustainable and greener processes and materials.
My research revolves around converting biomass, into advanced nanomaterials like nanocellulose using principles of green chemistry. A key focus is our innovative "one-pot" treatment method, which simplifies the process of removing non-cellulose components and modifies the cellulose surface to enhance the colloidal properties of nanofibrillated cellulose. I explore how to harness nanocellulose’s unique properties to create high-performance structures using self-assembly and entanglement in different dimensions.
Why Nanocellulose?
Nanocellulose is an incredibly versatile material with transformative potential across diverse applications, including:
Agriculture: Enhancing crop protection through sustainable encapsulation systems for controlled-release fertilizers and pesticides.
Sustainable Construction: Developing eco-friendly building materials.
Water Treatment: Designing filters for cleaner water.
Packaging: Creating biodegradable and functional alternatives to plastics.
Food: Innovating food-safe materials for sustainable production and preservation.
Medical Applications: Fabricating antimicrobial filters for healthcare system and scaffolds for tissue engineering.
