dr. B (Bernardo) Maestrini
WR OnderzoekerMy current research focus is precision agriculture and crop modelling, I am particularly interested in understanding and managing within-field variability of open field crops (potatoes, corn, soybean,..). The tools I use to reach this goals, are observations from commercial fields, remote sensing images, soil surveys, deterministic models (e.g. Tipstar, Wofost, DSSAT) and data-driven models (e.g. linear regressions, neural networks). My background education is in forestry, I hold a PhD in soil biogeochemistry from the University of Zurich, and before joining WUR I spent four years as a postdoc at the Michigan State University.
