Ir. Alexander Boedijn is the Programme manager for Circular Horticulture at the Business unit Greenhouse Horticulture of Wageningen University & Research. With a background in Mechanical Engineering (BSc, Delft University of Technology) and Biosystems Engineering (MSc, Wageningen University & Research), his focus is on closing resource loops for greenhouse production and supply chains, including growing media, fertilisers, CO2, plastics, water, and biomass. His (applied) research activities in circularity and sustainability encompass data analysis, visualisation, material flow analysis, technology validation, sustainability assessment, and cross-sector collaboration.

Recent projects he’s working on include CO2 from Direct Air Capture (DAC), developing a roadmap for renewable growing media, circular phosphorus produced from sewage sludge ashes, and creating circular solutions for plastics.
