Dr. Alemayehu Toni is a senior Pediatrician and Child Health expert with an overall experience of more than 12 years in academics, clinical care, and research at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia, and a sandwich Ph.D. student at Wageningen University and Research, Netherlands. He completed his undergraduate education in Human Medicine at the Gondar College of Medicine and Health Science in 2008. In 2015, he specialized in Pediatrics and Child Health at the University of Gondar Hospital. He received a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in 2016. His research interest area includes Child Health in Low-and Middle-Income Countries: nutrition, immunization, and common childhood infectious diseases. In his Ph.D. project, he aims to combine clinical, sensory, and metabolomics data to develop a tool to measure appetite and determine the main drivers of appetite loss and recovery in children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition to improve treatment outcomes.
