prof.dr. AH (Aldrik) Velders
Professor/ChairholderAldrik Velders obtained his master’s degree from Utrecht University with specializations in lanthanide chemistry (Utrecht) and supramolecular chemistry (University of Pavia, Italy). He received his PhD degree from Leiden University (2000) in BioInorganic Chemistry. He spent his post-doc years in Florence (Italy) at the Centre for Magnetic Resonance, from the University of Florence, and at Molteni Farmaceutici. Back in The Netherlands, from 2004-2012, he was assistant and associate professor of SupraMolecular Chemistry & Technology at the University of Twente and director of the NMR & MS facilities. In 2012 he became full professor at Wageningen University where he founded the chair of BioNanoTechnology. He was director of the MAGNEtic resonance research FacilitY – MAGNEFY- and member of the Dutch national NMR initiative. He holds affiliations with the Interventional Molecular imaging group at the Leiden University Medical Centre (Leiden, The Netherlands), and with the Microwave and Sustainable Organic chemistry group of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Ciudad Real, Spain). His research interests range from the design and fabrication of hierarchically built-up complex nanoparticle systems, for material and biomedical applications, to developing and applying Magnetic Resonance techniques in microfluidics and nanotechnology.
