I am passionate about understanding the intricate relationship between nutrition and the fish gut microbiota, which has far-reaching implications for both sustainable aquaculture and fish health. During my Bachelor's in Biology, I decided to focus on the field of Microbiology, which led me to pursue a Master's in Microbiology and Parasitology. During my PhD at the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), enrolled at the University of Barcelona (UB), I specialized in studying the interaction between diet, microbiota, and fish health.

In August 2024, I began a postdoctoral position with the Aquaculture and Fisheries Group at Wageningen University & Research, under the supervision of Dr. Fotini Kokou, as part of the project “Aquafeed Upgraded: Enhancing Immune Function with Seaweed-modified Functional Compounds”. In this project, we aim to assess the efficiency of seaweed-derived functional compounds as novel prebiotics for marine and freshwater fish, by studying their effects on the fish gut microbiota and health-related indicators.
