My research focuses on deploying proximal and remote sensing technologies and leveraging data-driven modeling and soft sensing principles towards developing an Eco-smart Precision Agriculture System. This system synthesizes the power of precision agricultural technologies with agroecological principles. I focus on deploying various infrared spectroscopies (VNIRS, MIRS, SWIR), hyper-spectral imaging, geophysical & radiometric spectrometry, electrochemical and electromagnetic induction and active canopy sensors for rapid and high-resolution mapping of within-field heterogeneities in soil and crop qualities, key to implement precision applications of seeds, N and bio-based fertilizers, irrigation and herbicides. Recent advancements in (bio)nanomaterials have sparked interest in deploying biodegradable sensors for monitoring agro-ecological environments (e.g.,nutrient losses, soil-water stresses & pollutions), providing feedback for optimised management decisions. I focus employing soft sensing principles for effective monitoring of complex biogeochemical processes (i.e., carbon, nutrient, and water) in various soil environments, overcoming the limitations of a single sensor.

I am one of the lead researchers of the Greensensors project funded by 4TU.Federation. This project aims to develop a biodegradable soil sensing system for sustainable agrifood production. This innovative soil sensor would be distributed during primary field operations such as seeding, and would continuously provide real-time soil quality information through IoT networks for precision crop inputs management. The sensors themselves naturally degrade, mitigating potential e-waste and reducing labor and energy associated with sensor installations and removals, contributing to a more environmentally friendly agricultural system.

I am one of the Honorable Mention Awardees at the Applications of Proximal and Remote Sensing Technologies for Soil Investigations Symposium, Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society, International Union of Soil Science Working Group on Proximal Soil Sensing, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, USA, (16-19 August 2021). I am a life member of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, and member of International Society of Precision Agriculture, USA. I am currently editing a special issue on Advances in Computer Vision and Sensing Technologies for Smart Farming.
