Scientists, communication staff, officeholders, and many others face the risk of encountering polarization. The world is riddled with tensions, "us versus them" dynamics, and sometimes extreme black-and-white thinking. What is the best course of action when the outside world misrepresents your research, when elements are discussed in an unfounded manner, or even exploited for inappropriate purposes? What does it take to sustain yourself in times of polarisation? WUR helps you recognise the dynamics of polarisation.

WUR regularly hosts sessions on how to deal with polarization, and the Dutch-language podcast on the subject has been listened to over 30,000 times. Science journalist Maarten Keulemans (De Volkskrant) on this series: “Extraordinarily informative podcast from Bart Brandsma and WUR on polarisation.” The podcast is now also available in English on Spotify and Apple Music. In the podcast, philosopher and polarization expert Bart Brandsma provides tools and insights over six episodes to help you navigate tensions when polarization hits.

You will learn, among other things, to recognise pushers and joiners, how you can suddenly become the scapegoat as a 'neutral,' and what you can do to depolarise.
