SSEB at SSIB! The Sensory team presents at the 31st Annual Society for the Study of Ingestive Behaviour Meeting in Chicago, USA

The Sensory Science and Eating Behaviour team have just returned from successfully presenting their research at the 31st Annual meeting of the Society for the Study of Eating Behaviour (SSIB) in Chicago, USA (https://www.ssib.org/2024/).

Assistant Prof. Marlou Lasschuijt and Chairholder Prof. Ciarán Forde presented talks at the 5-day meeting and learned about the latest developments in appetite and eating behaviour research from assembled global experts. A-Prof. Lasschuijt presented findings from the RESTRUCTURE project in a talk entitled “Slowly Eating Less: Consistent Effects of Eating rate of Ultra-Processed Foods on Energy Intake Across Meals, Days, and Diets”. Prof. Forde was invited to give one of the Mars Award lectures at the meeting and presented an overview of past and current research in a talk entitled “The Role of Sensory Cues in Eating Behaviour, Food Intake and Health”. The team enjoyed a productive meeting and look forward to contributing to the next SSIB meeting which will be held July 28 - August 1, 2025 in Oxford, UK.
