Hello everyone! Some of you may already know me from courses, workshops or other activities within Wageningen University. For those that have not yet met me I would like to introduce myself.

I’m Franshelis and for the past 4 years I have been working at Wageningen University as a Lecturer at the chair group Health and Society. At the beginning of 2018, I also became the education coordinator of the chair group. Working as a lecturer provided me with many opportunities. I was able to obtain my University Teaching Qualification (BKO), contribute to teaching and supervision at both BSc and MSc levels, coordinate and innovate education (i.e. peer-review), and become a member of the Teachers’ Lounge.

Although I immensely enjoy developing, teaching, and evaluating educational courses and learning methods, I also aspire an academic career. For this reason, I decided to apply for a WASS PhD position and I’m extremely happy to have been awarded with one. For the next coming 5 years I will be doing research related to understanding stigma toward bariatric surgery and the impact of this stigma on the individuals who consider or underwent this surgery.

I’m excited to start my PhD project and to continue working within the Health and Society group!
