How to guarantee a continuous boundary crossing learning trajectory?

Representatives of the BC@WUR coreteam and of the BSc Animal Sciences program team were granted a WUR Educational Innovation grant (2024-2026) and started a project to build a structure for continuous teacher involvement in learning trajectory implementation and maintenance. The boundary crossing learning trajectory in the BSc Animal Sciences is selected as the main ‘testing ground’.

The WUR ambition is to integrate boundary crossing learning into existing program courses. Designing learning activities in co-creation between BC experts and disciplinary experts appears to be not easy, but mostly do-able. However, we face difficulties when it comes to long term effectuation (‘DIY’), let alone transfer from the one to the other teacher (team) when teachers switch courses.

This innovation project will design a work-flow for all stakeholders involved in the curricular maintenance of a learning trajectory e.g. program committee and program director, teachers, BC experts and maybe a new to be established role of skills learning trajectory coordinator. This project will contribute towards a boundary crossing ‘curricul-UP’ of the BSc Animal Sciences and hopefully of other WUR programs.
