Green Day Programs Benefit the Elderly
We are pleased to share that one of our recently completed research projects has been featured in a new publication by ZonMw, titled Dementia in Everyday Practice.
In collaboration with the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Institute for Nature Education (IVN), we explored how green day programs in urban areas can support people with dementia. The results are overwhelmingly positive: participants are highly satisfied with these initiatives, and caregivers have noticed that the connection with nature and the “normal” daily activities have a beneficial impact on their loved ones.
Based on this research, we have developed a fact sheet that includes inspiring examples of green day programs, along with feedback from both people with dementia and their caregivers. The fact sheet also offers recommendations for municipalities, healthcare professionals, and providers of green day programs.
